In 1908 the group decided to build a church in Duke. The first church was built in old town - west of the present town of Duke.
Rev. J.W. Martin was the Pastor 1908 - 1909
Rev. T.Y. Hearne was the Pastor 1909 - 1910
Rev. Kirby was the Pastor 1910 - 1911
In 1910, the church building was moved to the new town - East Duke on a lot south of the old telephone office, three blocks west and one block south of the present church.
Rev. Baily was the Pastor 1911 - 1913
Rev. C.F. Sheapard was the Pastor 1913 - 1914
The church was dedicated in 1913.
Rev. Scivally was the Pastor 1914 - 1915
The First District Conference was held in 1915.

Rev. F.R. Giles was the Pastor 1917 - 1919
Rev. Frank Hopkins was the Pastor 1919 - 1921
In 1920, the church was moved to the present location.

Rev. Taylor passed away while he was pastor at Duke.

In 1939, the church had homecoming. There were 207 present for Sunday School and almost 100 visitors registered. The only charter member present was Mrs. C.W. Hessler. The Women's Society of Christian Service presented her a large picture of the church. The Lawton District Superintendent Rev. E.L. Morgan was the speaker at the morning service. No former pastors were present, but greetings were read from Rev. C.F. Mitchell, Rev. W.L. Broome, Rev. W.A. Nash, Rev. F.L. Giles, Rev. C.F. Simmons, and Rev. C.L. Brogan.

A building fund was started in 1945 and in 1946 plans were started for a new church building.

The official Board Members were C.F. Walker, Chairman, Sam West, Secretary, Bill Bonds, Ralph Fewell, Eugene Thomas, J.P. Machin, Jr., W.V. Powell, Mrs. Lurlenc Middleton, Mrs. Audry Duke, Mrs. C.C. Walker, Wilbur Wampler, Frank Marshall, and Ren Baar.
The church planning committee members were Art Baar, Chairman, Ralph Fewell, Secretary/Treasurer, Grady Byrd, Orvis Rigsby, Carl Ross, Sam West, C.F. Walker, Frank Marshall and the Pastor Rev. Carl Hudson.
The building committee members were C.F. Walker, Chairman, Ralph Fewell, Secretary/Treasurer, Frank Marshall, Mrs. Luther Roberson, W.S.C.S. President, and Nawana Middleton, M.Y.F. President.
On August 21, 1947, the foundation was run for the new church (the present building). On January 18, 1948, the first service was conducted in the new church. On May 1, 1949, the new $25,000 church was dedicated. A large crowd was at the 11:00 am service, dinner was served at 12:30 pm. The dedication service was at 2:30 pm; it was broadcast over K.W.H. Altus radio station. Mrs. C.W. Hessler was the only charter member present. The church presented Mrs. Hessler a beautiful corsage.
In 1948, the Pulpit Bible and the electric sign "Methodist Church" over the entrance were given by Bill Bonds.

In 1948 the old parsonage was torn down and a new one was built. An organ fund was started with a $200 gift by Miss Anna Maples. Miss Laura Maples, Mrs. Sam West, and Mrs. A. Tillman added money to the fund making it $600.

Rev. Harris was called into the service as a Chaplain while he was Pastor. Rev. Frank Hudson filled the pulpit until the end of the conference year.
Rev. Gilbert Brothers was the Pastor 1951 - 1953
Jerry Perryman was called into the ministry and was granted his license to preach November 18, 1953. He attended college at Oklahoma City University and during his college years he was Pastor of the Methodist Church at Ninnekah, OK.

Rev. Clyde Rodolph was the Pastor 1954 - 1956
Miss Anna Maples added the remaining needed money to the organ fund and a Hammond Organ was installed in 1955. An addition to the parsonage, the room on the east was added in 1955.

Rev. Elbert Shumaker was the Pastor 1959 - 1966
Prairie Hill Methodist Church voted to merge with the Duke Methodist Church, 85 members were present. June 3, 1962, the two churches met 117 were present in Sunday School, 118 were in the morning worship service and 113 in the evening service. In the fall of 1962, the Victory Methodist Church discontinued services, some of the members went to Altus churches and others came to Duke.
An addition was added on the north side of the church in 1964 - 1965. Members of the building committee were Art Baar, George Olson, J.P. Dunnam, Gilbert Marquart, Ross Thomason. The dedication service was held April 25, 1965.
